Love Fit For Battle Series I John 4:17-19 – Our love is made perfect as we submit to our lord. He is perfect and his ways are perfect. Jesus always responded to every dilemma with the power of his love. Every response was motivated by his love, even when he was angry. Are our responses motivated by love? Jude 21-22 – God’s love is full of mercy. And mercy relieves the stress in others. This brings compassion in us to change the circumstances of others. This is also motivated by love. What a weapon God has given us! Luke 10:25-37 - (Charity) People who have mercy have compassion. If there is no compassion you will condemn the act and justify your own response to the problem. What excuse do you think these two men had. 1.) I could have stopped, but what if someone sees me, I can’t be seen with this kind, what will others say. (this is saving face, reputation.) Or 2.) I can’t stop, what if the robbers are still out there, I’d better keep moving. (this is worried about self.) Luke 6:27-28 – (Forgiveness) Jesus has given us the power to forgive through his love. Remember what you have been forgiven for. Think of how God might have dealt with someone who has done something wrong. It is the power of his love and not our love that overcomes the enemy. In war, Satan wants us to hold on to offense. He doesn’t understand the power of God’s love. The sad truth is that we are not able to understand the love of God. Galatians 4:6 – (Truth) Truth is motivated by love. It will cause enemies. Everyone wants you to love them, but they don’t want the truth. Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and the life” It is his way or no way. So speaking the truth in love is a very powerful weapon. Ephesians 4:11-16 – When the scriptures speak of edifying it is speaking of building up the body. Speaking the truth in love will cause that. It will build up. Speaking the truth brings forth an increase of love in the body. This weapon of love brings unity. Satan fights us every day because he hates love and unity. He likes discord and offense. If we can learn to walk in his love then we would win more of our battles. Psalms 133:1 – Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together – In Unity. Galatians 15:14 – For all the law is fulfilled with one word, love. Jesus is the fruit of the love of God – our creator. Ephesians 5:1-2 – Why do we expect to do anything less than he did? We need to lay down our lives for others. We need to quit being selfish and critical and self righteous. We need to learn to put others first. For you to be first is a sign of immaturity. Your heart and mind should be looking out for others first. John 13:34-35 – Today people know the church not by their love but by their hypocrisy. Love is a miracle because Jesus is a miracle for us. We didn’t deserve his love. But he chose us anyway. Think about what we have done with the most important weapon that God has given to us. The power of his love is the greatest weapon. I Peter 4:8 – The love of God who sent his son has covered a multitude of sins by his love through his blood. Couldn’t this same principle be a mighty weapon in our hearts to wage war on God’s enemy. Look what his love has done for us. CommentsLeave a Reply |
